Fayez Spa sponsors annual Nursing Excellence Award. Nominations are invited at any time.

The first annual nursing week gala, May 12, 2011 at the Hellenic Community Centre, London was highlighted with the inaugural presentation of the Fayez Spa Nursing Excellence Awards, presented by Fayez Tamba. This annual event is orchestrated by the nurses’ gala committee and includes nurses from London Health Sciences Centre, St. Jospeh’s Health Care London, University of Western Ontario Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Fanshawe School of Nursing, The Middlesex-London Health Unit, and Jarlette Health Services. Winners of the 2011 event Linda Martins, University Hospital, nominated by Marianne Malchesky, won the Nursing Excellence - Peer Recognition award.

John Fogel,University Hospital, Cardiology Unit, nominated by the Hassan family, won the Nursing Excellence Award.

Nursing Excellence is recognized by award creation

Fayez Tamba created the award to demonstrate appreciation for the exemplary care he received during his surgery at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital. Fayez observed his nurses to be “truly dedicated, yet rarely appreciated for the numerous ways that they consistently exhibited care and compassion for their patients’ physical and emotional well-being during very stressful times”.

Any nurse working in the London area is eligible to be nominated. Patients or clients who have received outstanding care are invited to nominate nurses whose performances they consider to be deserving.
                                                                                                           
Nominations are invited any time throughout the year.

Fayez accepts nominations throughout the year. The deadline to be considered for the 2012 awards is April 20, 2012.

Nominations must include the first and last name of nominees, with full details about the performances that deserve recognition, along with the date(s) and locations(S) of the care provided. The name, address, and contact information of the nominator must be included as anonymous nominations cannot be accepted, nor can family members nominate relatives. Nominees will be advised in advance to ensure their attendance at the gala.

The winner will receive a Fayez Spa gift certificate for $2500 plus the framed award certificate celebrating outstanding Nursing Excellence.
